Creative writing and technical communications are two of the subjects I teach in my work as a secondary school teacher for English studies and the writing of essays is one of the learning tools we used to improve the writing skills of our pupils. To improve the learning process for writing process analysis essays, I started to use the presentation Power Point program as a tool in teaching my pupils about essay writing.
I started a project that I called as the essays in presentation Power Point for essays project. The class was organised into groups of four members and each group had to write a process analysis essay on a specific technical process and instead of a written document, the essay would be presented in a presentation Power Point format. Aside from teaching my class, I also instructed them to do research and read materials on how to do essays in presentation Power Point format to be discussed in front of a class.
I instructed each group to select a specific process, discuss the process, and analyse the process. An example I mentioned is “the analysis in the steps for processing olive oil," and the topic should be in an essay using the presentation Power Point program. I first taught my class the basics of writing a process analysis essay by using a presentation Power Point software.
I told my class that each group should hand write its process analysis essay. Afterwards, the group would use a digital camera to take pictures of each page of the essay, upload the images into the computers, and save the pictures in the applicable digital format. Then, each group opened a presentation Power Point program application in their respective computers. Since I already taught my class on how to use power point, they were able to create effectively their essays into the presentation format.
